This past weekend I had the honour and pleasure of watching Black Bone Nation live from Urban Sessions 2020. Here are my thoughts and short review of my experience.
Starting off with Born to Rock, the title track from their latest album, "Born To Rock", the adrenalin builds with Henri leading the rhythm section from behind the drums, without missing a beat, the heart of rock & roll, punching it four to the floor.
Sporting his kilt, Leroux walked us through each song with his infectious bass lines and bright red Converse All Stars. Filling the sounds of rock & roll along with the heavy hitting riffs spawning from the guitars wielded by Zakk and Brendan.
Clearly having a blast to the right of the stage, Brendan is picking away one solo after the other leaving me astounded with his pure talent. He is clearly an accomplished guitarist and leaves jaws resting on chests and leaving me wanting for more.
With his sexy white guitar and like the rest of his band members, dressed black on black, Zakk reminds me of Josh Homme with his charismatic confidence, hitting note after note, fulfilling his role as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, not only behind his axe but also shredding on the piano while Brendan plays one last solo on the final track of the night.
Playing to an audience absent from the front of the stage and not being able to feed off that energy is no small feat, however these four remarkable musicians, who are Black Bone Nation were not deterred but rather, delivered a phenomenal performance without a hitch.
The performance, a great blend between upbeat, High Octane Rock and Roll tracks getting you ready to jump up and down and then eased into and a couple of ear soothing rock ballads, packed with emotion, showing the diverse abilities of these fine musicians.
World class videography and live audio was captured like only a few can and the option to stream in 1080p HD was thoughrouly enjoyed. Praise goes to the production company for presenting the viewers with an extremely well produced and directed show.
Sadly there was no encore, not that it takes anything away from the show or the band... I personally just didn't want the show to end.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of the show. It was energetic well executed and one of the better streaming experiences I've had to date.
Do yourself a a favour and go get your copy of "Born To Rock" RIGHT NOW!!!
